Budai Port's Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) system was completed at the end of 2019, integrating electronic charts, radar, electro-optical thermal imaging monitoring systems, an Automatic Identification System (AIS), and Very High Frequency (VHF) radio equipment to conduct continuous detection and tracking of vessels within its service area. This enables real-time monitoring of ship movements inside and outside the port, while providing navigational assistance to vessels entering and leaving the port.
Following the inauguration of the new passenger center in May 2022, Budai Port VTS operations were relocated to the dedicated VTS room within the center. The facility now integrates pumping station systems, CCTV surveillance, vessel schedule displays, and public announcement systems, enhancing services for shipping companies and passengers.
In March 2023, as part of the Trans-SMART project, new alert functions were added for berth collision detection, anchor dragging monitoring, and channel navigation and speed monitoring. These smart VTS system enhancements have improved port operational safety and efficiency. Furthermore, in compliance with cybersecurity policies, the system implements user account management, log recording, and other measures to ensure equipment information security and operational continuity.
