The Port of Kaohsiung is 17,736 hectares, of which 1,871 hectares of land area, accounting for 10.5% of the total area of POK, and the water area of 15,865 hectares, accounting for 89.5% of the total area of POK.

The configuration of the port area is dominated by wharf operation areas, followed by industrial areas, and the rest are land for port administration, fishing ports, shipyards, Taiwan Power Corp., and CPC Corporation.

There are two entrances in Kaohsiung Port, the first entrance of the channel is 12.5 meters in-depth and a narrow pass 130 meters in width with an effective channel width is 98 meters.

The second entrance of the channel is 17.5 meters in-depth and a narrow pass 250 meters in width with an effective channel width is 183 meters.

The major channel is 18 kilometers long and the minor one is 6 kilometers long.

There are 139 wharves (93 operating wharves and 46 non-operating wharves), with a total length of 28,853 meters, 19 mooring buoy, and berthing for 152 vessels.
